Chart Information for Living Donors

  • Lung Transplant Donor Selection Process
The decision to receive a transplant is a major one and should not be made without a great deal of thought for several reasons. First, transplantation is a major surgical procedure which involves some degree of risk.

  • Lung Transplant Donor Testing
Surgeries are usually planned on a Wednesday; the recipient is usually admitted to USC the Thursday before. Donors will need to be available for the additional tests to be done at USC by Monday before surgery.

  • Lobar Donor Expectations
What the Donor Should Expect Before Surgery: The transplant team will notify you on when to be in the hospital the morning of the surgery. You will be instructed not to eat or drink anything after midnight.
